There are nine playable characters in Final Fantasy VII. They each have their own unique limit breaks but all use the same attacks and spells through the Materia System. A character can equip and unequip weapons and items and then materia onto weapons and items. This improves their statistics and provides a wider range of skills and abilities. Cloud Strife
21 Years Old
Cloud was once a member of SOLDIER, an elite branch of Shinra INC. Now he is a mercenary caught up in a battle between Avalanche and Shinra INC. During his travels he meets his childhood friend, Tifa, and an old flame is lit. He joins Avalanche on their mission to end Shinra INC's corrupt actions but soon gets caught up in a much larger battle for the fate of the world.
Aeris Gainsborough
22 Years Old
Aeris is the single living person with ancient blood in her. She is friendly, warm hearted and a caring friend. When Cloud stumbles upon her after falling through the roof of her church, a spark between them soon ignites into a flame of passion. Adopted at an early age when her mum died, Aeris grew up never knowing the truth about her past. Her mother was called Ifalna but died after being pursued by the Shinra INC.
Tifa Lockhart
20 Years Old
Tifa is the waitress of Seventh Heaven, a pub in the Slums and the headquarters of Avalanche. She grew up with Cloud in their birthtown of Nibelheim where their friendship grew into lifelong companionship. Now reunited, it is their personal goal to find Sephiroth, the man who killer Tifa's father and destroyed their hometown. She's light heared and always thinks of others before herself.
Barret Wallace
35 Years Old
Barret used to live in Corel, a mining town but it was unfortunately destroyed by Shinra over a decade ago. He lost his hometown, his friends, his livelihood and his partner. Blamed for the destruction of Corel, Barret was cast away. His daughter, Marlene, is the one person in the world he will see absolutely no harm to. He begins to understand himself the more he travels with Cloud.
Red XIII
45 Beast Years (whatever the hell that is :P) Old
Red XIII was found by Cloud in the Shinra Headquarters as a research specimen to the eccentric scientist Hojo. He was born in Cosmo Canyon and is the last in a long line of beautiful, tiger-like creatures that once lived there. His father, Seto, was shamed but Red discovers the truth about his family as he ventures with Cloud. He's enigmatic to say the least, but is kind to his friends.
